LOCAL SIGHTS
Hike the trail by the harbor and enjoy incredible views of the birds in the wildlife sanctuary. Great to explore any time of year! Our scenic water-side trail and heritage museum can take you back in time. If you’d prefer something a little more modern, try visiting the Columbus field and catch a game! Perhaps the Highland Games if the timing is right? If you’ve got a sweet-tooth, then you’ll have to stop by Peace by Chocolate’s little shop: once the entire basis of their operation here in Antigonish!
A — Columbus Field
The main venue for the Highland Games, located at the end of Main Street. Explore the playground and waterpark, the winding trails, and running track. There is also a tennis court and other recreational areas.
B — Antigonish Heritage Museum
Housed in the former CN rail station, our Heritage Museum seeks to preserve and promote Antigonish County history and culture. A must for first time visitors!
C — Landing Trail
Follow the water, and along its edge you’ll discover serene natural beauty. Enjoy bird watching as you meander through the wildlife sanctuary on two elevated platforms. Trail length approximately 4 km (2.5 miles).
D — Peace by Chocolate
The celebrity chocolate makers of Antigonish! Visit their first factory — turned gift & chocolate shop — and treat yourself to something sweet. Listen to their story, and enjoy the kindness Antigonish can offer.
